OCVFA Convention
Bringing Home Tommy's Trophy
The Good-Will Fire Department marched in the Orange County Volunteer Firemen's Association parade in New Windsor on Saturday, September 22nd. The family of life member Tom Dickson, who passed away last year, donated trophies in the Class B men's division. The membership tried it's hardest to keep the trophy in the firehouse family. As such, Good-Will brought home trophies for 2nd place in the Class B men's division, 1st place best appearing color guard, and 1st place best appearing rescue truck. On Thursday night, September 20th, Vail's Gate hosted the OCVFA convention dinner. There, Chief Michael Decker was honored as the OCVFA Firefighter of the Year for rescuing three occupants from a burning house in 2006. (Photos by Dee Bender)

The Sentinel published a series of photos and stories on the county convention in it's 9/25/07 edition. Editor Kerry Butrick graciously wrote a powerful editorial piece commending firefighters in general, but more specifically Chief Decker for his bravery. A story and photos were also published on Chief Decker receiving the Firefighter of the Year award. Both newspaper clippings follow.
